How Individual Therapy Works
I strive to create a therapy onboarding process that is simple, seamless, and accessible.
-
When you are ready, schedule your free 15-minute consultation phone/video call here.
-
During your 15-minute initial consultation, you will meet with Dr. Felishatee Rodriguez. This introductory appointment aims to achieve two key goals. First, it allows you, the prospective client, to share information to assess if Dr. Rodriguez's therapeutic approach would be a good fit to address your needs and meet your counseling goals. You will have the chance to ask questions about her methods, expertise, and process. Second, it provides Dr. Rodriguez the opportunity to learn more about what brings you to counseling at this time and what you hope to accomplish, allowing her to determine if her specialty areas and skills would enable her to effectively support you based on your unique preferences and concerns. Essentially, this brief consultation enables both you and Dr. Rodriguez to discern whether you are a compatible client-counselor match for embarking on the deeply personal therapeutic process together.
-
The intake session with Dr. Rodriguez is a pivotal 60-minute first step that lays the foundation for your counseling partnership. During this appointment, we will begin cultivating our therapeutic relationship by discussing what brings you to counseling currently, including gaining an understanding surrounding your personal history, background, presenting concerns, and past treatment. It offers us a space to mutually align around your specific goals and to determine if my areas of expertise fit your needs. An important aspect we will cover involves reviewing administrative items like consent forms and financial obligations to provide transparency upfront. Overall, an effective intake clears the pathway for meaningful work together - I strive for my intake process to leave you feeling heard, understood, and confident in receiving specialized care that empowers your healing journey. Please reach out with any other questions on what to expect as you prepare for this important appointment.

Our work together is a continuous journey of insight, growth, and encouragement, where each session builds on the last through actively developing coping tools and personal evolution. I consider it a collaborative endeavor that interweaves your lived experiences with my specialized training. We will explore patterns, thoughtfully challenge limiting beliefs, and integrate healthier coping alternatives. Progress evolves uniquely — there may be setbacks amid breakthroughs, as healing is not linear. My commitment rests in cultivating self-compassion and resilience alongside you throughout the seasons of this transformational passage. I seek to provide a space filled with compassionate accountability that illuminates possibility and purpose. True change often lies in discovering untapped wells of wisdom within. I consider it an honor to bring to light the emergence of wholeness already living inside you. Sessions may involve honest reflection about past and present, while planting seeds that reconnect you to the deepest truths of who you wish to bloom into.
-
Ending therapy can be a meaningful milestone that honors the ways you've experienced healing. As we intentionally work towards the goals set early on and you feel ready to conclude services, celebrating your progress comes first. We will collaboratively determine what aspects of your goals feel sustainably met and what may benefit from resources to solidify gains as you transition out of sessions. Part of closure includes reflecting on tools now embedded into your life and identifying long-term supports. I'll provide recommendations to extend your enhanced well-being, like support groups, referrals, apps, or occasional check-ins. As we approach the end, there are formal procedures required such as evaluation questionnaires and termination paperwork. While endings allow personal ownership around fulfilling your purpose in counseling, the door remains open should future needs arise. My hope is for you to finish this journey equipped to intentionally nurture the version of yourself built through our dedicated commitment to positive change together - the chance to witness your transformation has been a true honor.
Navigating help for your mental wellness can feel complicated enough – I want you to feel equipped, not overwhelmed, by each step toward counseling.
My Style: Therapy for Individuals 18+
Hey! I'm so glad you're here.
Ever wished for a therapist who gets that sometimes you need to laugh through the tears? Or someone who won't raise an eyebrow when you drop an f-bomb while processing a tough moment? That's exactly the kind of space we'll create together.
Your Story, Your Pace
We'll tackle what matters to you, in ways that work for you. Whether you process things through humor, metaphors, or straight-up venting, I'm here for it.
A Space That Fits You
Like a favorite coffee shop where the barista knows your order, our sessions become a place where you can fully be yourself – messy thoughts, complicated feelings, and all.
I see the weight you're carrying. The late-night thoughts, the anxiety that creeps in, the patterns you're trying to break. Your struggles aren't "just in your head" – they're real, and they matter.
You don't need to edit yourself here. Whether you're:
Wrestling with heavy emotions
Questioning everything
Just trying to make it through the day
Ready to make big changes
I'm here to meet you exactly where you are, with zero judgment and plenty of compassion.
Ready for therapy that feels different?
Let's create a space where you can breathe, be real, and work toward the changes you want to see in your life.

Real Growth Happens in Real Connection
Think of our work together like exploring a house you've lived in for years, but with fresh eyes and a trusted guide by your side. Some rooms might feel familiar and comfortable, while others have stayed locked for too long. That's okay - we'll move at your pace, with curiosity and compassion lighting the way.
How We'll Work Together
I believe you're the expert of your own life - you've gotten this far using the tools and strategies you know best. My role isn't to judge these survival skills, but to help you discover which ones still serve you and which ones might be ready for an upgrade.

Our Collaborative Process
What Makes Our Work Different:
Instead of just treating symptoms, we look at the whole picture - your relationships, environment, past experiences, and current challenges
Rather than forcing change, we create space for natural transformation
We build on your existing strengths while exploring new possibilities
Your cultural background, life experiences, and personal wisdom are valued parts of our work together
What You Can Expect
In our sessions, you'll find:
A place where "I don't know" is just as valid as having all the answers
Permission to be exactly where you are in your journey
Support in connecting your past experiences to present patterns
Guidance in translating insights into real-world change
Someone who sees your struggles and your strengths equally
The Goal?
To help you move from just getting by to truly thriving. Whether that means finding peace with your past, building stronger relationships, or finally feeling at home in your own skin - we'll get there together, one authentic conversation at a time.

My Story: Helping You Find Your Voice
As a first-generation Latinx, LGBTQIA+ woman, I bring cultural humility to my practice. I grew up in a multigenerational household emphasizing the importance of education, community, and family values (e.g., familismo, personalismo).
As a counselor, I prioritize my client's safety and the therapeutic relationship, checking in along the way to honor their shared narratives. In our sessions, my goal is to create a space where you feel listened to, understood, and ultimately accepted for everything you are. I will meet you without judgment, preconceptions, or assumptions. You will have my full presence and attention.
I aim to collaborate with you to uncover the complex and resilient human being underneath. In our work together, I will reflect on what I clinically understand of your shared experiences to validate all aspects of your journey and identity.
Creating a space where individuals feel visible is what fuels me in this profession. From my experience in being a part of and serving underrepresented groups, I understand how healing it can be to have someone bear compassionate witness to life’s challenges and our strengths - especially when we cannot see them ourselves. My superpower as a counselor is presence. I will show up authentically and be fully there for you.
You are seen. You matter. Let’s talk.
